This construction project is to replace the church’s foundation and repair structural damage. GFM Excavating worked throughout the day during a recent Nor’easter, digging out sand from underneath the church.
Significant structural damage has been revealed in the area of the church where the chancel and sanctuary are located. The chancel and sanctuary walls and roof are now braced and supported by cross ties and steel i-beams while the new perimeter foundation is being excavated. Areas once held up mostly by prayer are now temporarily being held up by heavy cross ties and steel i-beams. The first concrete footings for the new foundation have been poured and masonry work has begun.
